 Creating Your Desires

The swan inside yourself by Eilat Adar

Who do you want to be?  How do you want to live?  What do you want to be remembered for?

A great many people live their lives without really looking at these questions, and what they really want from life.  Instead they lament what they don't have, like a better job, an improved love life, or more money.

What will it take to live a life of meaning?  And are you willing to do what it takes?

When I tell people to spend time focusing daily on what they want in life, they often ask, "How can I do that?  Do you know how busy I am?  Who is going to feed the kids?  Who is going to clean the house?  Who is going to deal with fixing the car?"

Living a life of meaning doesn't mean that all annoyances or frustrations suddenly disappear from life.  But it does mean spending time focusing on what you do want.

Let me ask you again.  What kind of life do you want to live?  More time to relax? Less stress? A life without dramas that cause pain and suffering?

Dealing with Dramas

If you have drama in your life and dislike it, ask yourself why is it in your life?  If it's truly something you don't want in your life, stop it.  Just stop.

Stop being involved in the argument or conversation you don't want to be a part of.  Stop taking pleasure in telling others your stories of frustration.

Dramas and frustrations don't instantly disappear if you decide to live your life in a different way, perhaps with more meaning.  But they do begin to take their place as aspects of your life, rather than continually being at the forefront.

Do what you need to do, take care of your life and your needs, and find outlets for your frustrations.  But spend time living your life as you desire.

Would you rather continue with the way things are?

When people are on their deathbed, looking back at their lives, few people think, "You know, I really should have paid the gas bill sooner," or "Gosh, I should have spent more time being mad at the car mechanic."  More often, people think, "I should have spent more time with my family," or "I should have taken a risk and done those things I was scared to do."  When all is said and done, people regret the things they didn't do more than the things they did.

And so, I'm going to ask you again, who do you want to be, and how do you want to live your life?  And how much time are you spending moving toward those dreams, or figuring out what your dreams are?

Meditate into your dream life

Now I'm going to ask you for 10 minutes a day.  That's all, 10 minutes a day.  In the morning, or at night, or anytime in between, can you find 10 minutes of quiet time, when you're alone with no interruptions?  No email, no phone, no nothing.  Just time for you.

Now here is what I want you to do during those 10 minutes.  Think about and visualize what you want in your life.  See yourself in the kind of circumstances or situations, you wish for.  See yourself in the kind of relationship you dream of.  See yourself with all the abundance you desire.  See yourself with your dream job.

How do you expect the world to provide you with what you want if you don't tell it what you want?  Or if you don't know what it is that you want?

Give it a week.  Just try it out.  Spend 10 minutes a day and do this.  And see what happens.

The first thing that will happen is that you'll feel better, that your dreams are suddenly in view.  Or maybe you'll feel overwhelmed at seeing the possibility of your dreams.  Go with it, and trust that you were not put on this Earth as some sort of a cruel joke, but as someone who can achieve happiness, success, and fulfillment.

The second thing that will happen when you visualize certain circumstances occurring, is that the world will begin to find ways to make it happen.  Maybe the right person will come into your life at just the right moment.  Maybe the right opportunity will find its way to you.  Maybe an article about exactly what you want will find its way into your hands.  Watch for it.  If you truly take this time, things will start to happen.

And thirdly, go out there and make it happen.  Find time to do a few tangible things that will move you towards where you want to go.

Now that you have the concept of what you want, the belief and visualization of specifically what you want, and the tangible actions geared toward moving in that direction.  Follow your heart, and move toward your dreams.

Good luck, and always remember, you were put on this Earth for a reason.  You have your gifts. Go out, use them, and don't be afraid to show the world your beauty.
